Drafting in Assistant

Learn how to draft documents directly in Glyphe's Assistant.

Overview

Drafting is fully integrated into Assistant, giving you a single, streamlined workspace to create, review, and refine legal content.

Whether you need a quick answer or a complete first draft, you can start and finish your work within Assistant — without switching between tools.

Why Drafting Is Built into Assistant

Simpler, more powerful workflow. Everything happens in one place. Generate a draft, refine it, and ask follow-up questions within the same chat.

Fewer steps, less friction. There's no need to switch between separate drafting tools. Assistant handles both analysis and drafting seamlessly.

How to Draft in Assistant

Steps

  1. Go to Assistant.
  2. Upload any reference documents you want Glyphe to use (optional but recommended).
  3. Enter your prompt. Example: "Draft a standard engagement letter for a small business client."
  4. Click Ask Glyphe to generate a draft.

OR

  1. Go to the navigation pane.
  2. Select the "Draft" action, then the Templates Workflow.
  3. Make your selections regarding the specific clauses and type of contract you'd like to prepare.
  4. Click "Generate Draft".

Glyphe will produce a response, which may include a structured draft ready for editing.

You can move into the draft editor on the Desk by opening a document, which will display on the Desk in a split view:

  • Assistant panel (right): ask questions or request changes.
  • Desk (middle): view and edit your document.

Working in the Draft Editor

Using the drafting tools, you can:

  • Make manual edits directly in the document.
  • Ask Glyphe to revise or expand sections by selecting a Clause Card and prompting in Assistant.

When drafting on the Desk, you can choose between these channels:

  • Auto Draft — Selecting the "Re-draft" Quick Action in Assistant will prompt Glyphe to edit and uplift the draft.
  • Recommended — If you've asked Glyphe to analyse a clause — including through the Red-Flags Workflow — Glyphe will produce a series of recommendations for improving the clause. You can select which of the recommendations to incorporate using checkboxes, then select Draft.
  • Analysis — Glyphe provides guidance without modifying the clause when you select the "Explain" Quick Action, which can help you identify the relevant drafting issues in your clause.

Tip: You can toggle between versions and changes on your Clause Card.

Version History

Glyphe automatically saves versions of your draft as you make changes.

To access version history:

  1. Click the Version button in the top-right corner of the editor.
  2. Select the version you want to review.
  3. Restore a previous version if needed.

This allows you to experiment freely while keeping a full record of changes.

Exporting

When your draft is ready:

  • Export to Word (.docx).
  • Tracked changes will be preserved as redlines.
  • You can choose to export changes from the original draft through to the latest version.

Tips for Success

  • Start with a clear, specific prompt to generate a stronger first draft.
  • Upload reference documents to align outputs with your standards.
  • Use follow-up prompts to refine sections instead of rewriting the entire draft.
  • Break complex drafting tasks into smaller steps for better results.
