Create a Playbook
Standardise and streamline contract review by creating a Playbook directly from your contracts.
What is a Playbook?
A Playbook is a structured set of contract review guidelines that helps individuals and teams review, analyse, and negotiate agreements consistently.
Playbooks typically contain guidance for key clauses such as:
- Indemnities
- Limitation of liability
- Confidentiality
- Intellectual property
- Termination rights
Within Glyphe, Playbooks can be used in Assistant and during Workflows to help automate and standardise contract review, reducing review time while maintaining consistency across teams.
How Do Playbooks Work?
You can use the Playbook Builder to create a custom Playbook and use your Playbooks when reviewing, analysing, and drafting contracts in Glyphe.
In practice, this may involve:
- Uploading an existing playbook into Glyphe and refining the extracted rules, or uploading your own favourite clauses to create a custom playbook.
- Running a Playbook compare against a contract to identify clauses that are acceptable, require review, or are inconsistent with preferred positions.
- Applying suggested changes to your documents to align clauses with Playbook standards.
How to Create a Playbook
Navigate to the dedicated Playbook Builder page in Glyphe. You can create a Playbook by:
- Uploading an existing Playbook into Glyphe — Glyphe will convert the clauses into structured format.
- Uploading a single contract or template and allowing Glyphe to extract clause candidates for you to classify into preferred / fallback / non-negotiable positions.
- Uploading your favourite clauses and populating the fallback positions, notes, escalation points, contacts, and other details.
- Building or refining a Playbook using Assistant through drafting and improving prompts.
Upload an Existing Playbook
When you upload an existing Playbook, Glyphe converts it into a structured format by extracting:
- Preferred positions
- Fallback positions
- Unacceptable deviations
- Reviewer guidance notes
You can then review, edit, or remove rules to ensure the Playbook accurately reflects your organisation's standards.
Playbook Formatting Guidelines
For best results, uploaded Playbooks should follow these guidelines.
Each clause should clearly identify:
- Preferred position
- Up to three fallback positions
- The unacceptable deviations
Recommendations:
- Keep Playbooks under approximately 100 clauses.
- Use one contract type per Playbook where possible.
Generate a Playbook from a Contract
You can also seed a Playbook directly from a contract using the Import Wizard. Upload one document, Glyphe extracts clause candidates, and you classify each one (preferred / fallback / non-negotiable) before finalising the Playbook. You can iterate from there, refining positions and adding commentary over time.
